NI Silver is a family run business specialising in sharing the joy of creating your own jewellery via our jewellery making experiences and workshops. Fun days out with your family and friends or some quality 'me' time you are welcome to join us in the Holywood Hills. Our jewellery making experiences are relaxing and fun and our jewellery maker Ruth has a gift for putting people at ease. No experie

nce is required and Ruth will do as much or as little of the making as you wish. We are partners with Tourism NI and the 'Embrace a Giant Spirit' and love how our experiences help people to connect with the 'old ways' of making things rather than just buying everything. Nestled in the hills overlooking Belfast Lough we are connected to the ancient lands around us and point out to people that they would have been able to see RMS Titanic glide past our view if they stood in our garden all those years ago. We also create handmade and hand-crafted silver + gold, hallmarked and engraved jewellery, reflecting Northern Irish iconic buildings and bespoke commissions. Our 3D jewellery pieces have been carved from wax or constructed in silver, by Ruth McEwan-Lyon who is from Belfast but is now living in Holywood, Northern Ireland (home of Rory McIlroy). They are then cast in silver, hand finished, hallmarked and engraved. We also produce unique pieces of jewellery influenced by the sea, our countryside and the national beauties from the island of Ireland. Also including our Celtic influences we look both to the past but also to the future with our jewellery / jewellery designs. We also love to receive commissions and believe that everyone should have access to their own designer/maker. We can give you options and are happy to discuss your plans and desires to achieve your beautiful gifts of earrings, necklaces, cufflinks, lapel pins, broaches, tie pins, christening gifts, wedding (bridesmaid/groomsman) presents, tourist gifts, Pandora style dangle charms and of course for our many Irish ex-pats relatives as unique Christmas, Valentines day, Mothers day, Fathers day or birthday presents. Imagine how nice it would be to handover a gift that you designed and were involved in making, just precious!

Making space for nature is a core value for our family and on a crisp but sunny day, Steve and Ruth got down to business!

We've now planted 50 native Hawthorn saplings along the garden edge. We also made a conscious decision to remove our old metal netting, allowing for easier, open movement for local wildlife to roam into our sanctuary.

We're excited for them to grow alongside our well-established Blackthorns on the other side of the garden. You can also glimpse our 'Wild Area' near the other hedge, where we've stepped back to let nature take the reins.

This native planting, barrier removal, and creation of 'Wild Areas' are directly inspired by the 'We Are The Ark' movement. Have you heard of them? Go and have look and see what you could do :). https://wearetheark.org

A huge thank you to Professional Jeweller for featuring our nomination in the Small Awards.

These awards, organised by Small Business Britain, celebrate the best of small businesses across the UK, and we are honoured to be part of the shortlist.

We have been nominated in the 'Net Hero' category, an award dedicated to the business that demonstrates an exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability.

At our workshop in the Holywood Hills, our jewellery making experiences and designs are a tribute to the natural beauty of Northern Ireland, so maintaining sustainable practices is at the very heart
of what we do.

You will be greeted with a mulled wine or spiced apple drink and a piece of warm Christmas Bannock just out of the oven.

Then its onto to some fun stamping your own little silver heart with Ruth and then making your own Christmas Bannock with Tracey.
