ResinExpectations ResinExpectations - Gifts with a hint of Goth During my teens (in fact from birth), I was a rock chick.

As well as my Facebook and Instagram accounts, I attend craft markets and music events throughout the year, and sell in the Crafty Shed in Bordon, and Wallababies in Farnham. I liked guys with long hair, I liked tattoos, piercings, boldly dyed hair, denim, DMs and black, all shades of black. While I was growing up, I was repeatedly told it would be hard to get a job unless I toned down my look, so

under duress, that is what I did. The thing is, the world has changed, individuals can be just that. Having tattoos, wearing dark make up and piercings, no longer makes such a difference to your prospective employers. So here it is....my dirty little secret - I STILL HAVE THAT GOTH/METAL HEAD/ROCK CHICK INSIDE. I STILL LOVE THE MUSIC, THE FASHION, THE COLOUR SCHEMES, THE PIERCINGS, TATTOOS....ALL OF IT!!! What I have learned, however, is that I can still incorporate many of those things into my life - and I'm not the only one that wants to do that either. So here I am, crafting my future, and helping you stay in touch with the inner you - whether that is the teenager in you, the rocker, or the all out goth.

The eclipse got them wondering:
Are there other ghosts out there?
So they went to find out.
They've been floating around up there for a few days now...
And judging by the look of things, they may have found something. 🪐
Let's just hope they make it back by tomorrow morning...
Because we can't launch without them! 👻

Every heatwave, someone asks the same question. Why do you still wear black when it's this hot?

Honestly, most of us just decided the aesthetic mattered more than the extra two degrees. Black has always been part of the look, warm months included.

Fashion sense over thermoregulation, every single time.

There's a name for weather like the burning hot summer we've had. The Dog Days of Summer, a phrase that goes back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who blamed the heat on Sirius, the Dog Star, rising alongside the sun this time of year.

They believed it brought fever, bad luck and a kind of restless madness to anyone caught out in it. I don't know about madness, but restless feels about right after a month with barely a drop of rain.

If you're been feeling the heat too, you're in good company. People have been complaining about this exact stretch of summer for over two thousand years.

If you've been following along, you'll have noticed numbers keep turning up in my work. Three, six, nine, twelve, thirteen, none of it by accident.

I wrote a full blog post pulling all of that thinking together, the Triple Goddess, the Fifth Element, the Wheel of the Year and more. It's the long version of everything these posts only get to touch on.

If you enjoy the stories as much as the pieces themselves, that one's for you.

August's full moon has a name that sounds almost as spooky as it looks. The Sturgeon Moon, named after the giant fish once pulled from North America's Great Lakes at this time of year.

This year it's doing something extra. As the moon reaches its fullest, it slips into Earth's shadow for a partial lunar eclipse, deep enough to turn it a rusty red. A proper Blood Moon, visible from the UK in the small hours of the 28th.

I love a moment like this. A reminder that some of the best stories are written across the sky, not just in folklore and superstition.

Wherever you are, look up if the skies are clear.

Cats are said to have nine lives, a superstition that goes back centuries, though nobody quite agrees on why nine became the number that stuck.

It felt like the right one to think about with my ghost cats already living a kind of double life, cat by day, spectre by night if you go by the sheet costume. Whether you believe in nine lives or just like the phrase, there's something fitting about a cat that looks like it has already spent every one of them, and come back for more.

The ghosts are at it again...

🌔Then they saw the eclipse.
🤔And it got them wondering...
👻Are there other ghosts out there?
👩‍🚀So naturally, they went wandering.

There's a reason spirals turn up everywhere in nature, from shells to fern fronds to the arms of a galaxy.

It's called a logarithmic spiral. A snail's shell is one of the simplest, most familiar examples of it. Each coil grows outward at the same steady angle, getting bigger without ever changing shape. Nature building outward while staying true to its own pattern.
I like that idea. Growth that doesn't lose itself along the way.

My neon resin snails aren't quite following the laws of mathematics, they're a bit more playful than that, but there's still something satisfying about the coil.

Handmade, glossy, UV reactive under blacklight, and available in five bold colours.

🚨 Ghost update!

The Dead Apologetic Ghosts have promised not to wander off again...
..but we all know they'll be disappearing at the end of the month. 👻

If you've been thinking about giving one a new home, now's the perfect time. Once August is over, they'll be tucked away, although knowing these ghosts, they may well sneak off to a craft fair when nobody's looking.

This time last week I was taking part in a workshop at my shop The Crafters Collective CIC led by a fabulous lady called Tina from the Polymer Clay Guild.

Tina thought she was teaching myself and techniques with the intention of making a large statement necklace pendant, but of course I took my own cutters with me, and added a touch of Halloween in both my colour choices and shapes...

With so many items to cure we had to bake in batches, and got a little distracted while some were in the oven. BUT I actually really like the results (see the luna moths in the last picture which should have been the same black, white, orange and purple combo as the other items)
