The proper name for a sea urchin shell is actually a Test, although in some parts they are known as Scaddy Man's Head - which does kind of conjour up all sorts of weird and possibly not so wonderful images in my own head so I think I shall continue to refer to them as sea urchin shells!.

These beautifully textured earrings and pendant have been created using a shard of sea urchin shell that's been tumbled by the waves around the Isle of Colonsay.

Spot the imposter!!

Puffin season is just about to begin — with the best time for spotting these charismatic little “sea parrots” between May and early July 🐧🌊

From Scotland’s rugged cliffs and remote islands to its wild northern shores, puffins return each spring to some of our country’s most spectacular coastal spots. Spotting one of these wee fellas in the wild is one of Scotland’s most magical wildlife moments.

These little wooden chaps can be spotted all year round though… and unlike their cliff-dwelling cousins, you can take these home with you 🤍.

Handmade wooden puffin earrings can be found on

Auger shell or unicorn horn?? 🦄 ……

We've debated before as to why they are called unicorns why are they not called unihorns? That would make much more sense surely??

This however is not a unicorn horn it's a solid silver auger shell sourced from the shores of Nairn Beach and cast in sterling silver.
