So we are now at the half way point of Dorset Art Weeks and our last day in the theatre will be Sunday 7th June 🙁

Last night we had our Private Viewing event and it was busy! Lots of people came to have a few drinks and nibbles, and of course, buy some art and handmade items.

This afternoon I will be at the theatre 1:30 til 5pm. The cabinet needs restocking (thank you) and a tidy up.

We are open every day 10-5pm…the homemade cake is selling out most days.

I have made a Dorset Apple Cake to take in today 😋 One of your 5 a day…surely?!

Here are some of the pieces that will be in the cabinet later on today…

After a successful couple of days at Dorset Art Weeks, I rearranged my display and restocked a few pieces.

New are the gemstone and silver double bracelets. 4 in total. I’ve made myself one and haven’t really taken it off since.

Dorset Art weeks is going very well indeed.
Lots of pieces have sold already.
The cakes are being demolished every day, and not just by us stewards 😋

These 3 pieces of mine have gone already.

I’ve added some new gemstone and silver adjustable bracelets to the cabinet aswell.

See my next post for a reel of my display.

Good morning, I thought I would share this today.

In a world of mass produced items, created by robots and technology, we sometimes just need to stop and consider where and how we spend our hard earned money.

In an era of fast fashion and mass production, handmade goods offer a sustainable and ethical alternative.

Buying handmade means supporting artisans, fair wages, and a slower, more thoughtful approach to consumerism.

The problem with mass production is that it causes environmental damage due to large-scale production leading to pollution and excessive waste.

Many factory workers are underpaid and work in poor conditions.

Traditional skills are disappearing due to machine-based production and the craftsmanship is lost.

Handmade is the ethical choice; it supports fair wages as Artisans earn directly from their work and they use sustainable materials and practices.

Keeping traditional techniques alive preserves the culture.

So to conclude, by choosing handmade, you contribute to a more ethical and sustainable world.

Buying handmade also means that you have a unique piece that really does make a difference to the maker.

It really does warm my heart when a customer chooses my design, whether it’s a gift for themselves or for somebody else.

Thank you ❤️

The following is taken from the Jewellers Academy website…

“‘Handmade & Well Paid’ is a campaign to help ensure makers are well paid for the work they do whilst helping customers to make good decisions about which makers to buy from.

Makers need a sustainable income in order to keep running their businesses and making their crafts.

Customers value and admire the work of handmade artists and want to support them fairly to ensure they are making a good living wage for themselves.

We at Jewellers Academy are committed to promoting this campaign and we want to invite you to do the same.

To support both sides - maker and customer, help them spread the word and get makers well paid and customers feeling confident about buying wonderful handmade work”

This is what an afternoon of earring making looks like.

These will all be going to Venue 131 of this years Dorset Art Weeks exhibition when I’m next in on Wednesday.

All set up and ready for the first day of Dorset Art Weeks 2026.

The team of organisers are absolutely amazing and have worked so hard to get the theatre prepped and all the artwork hung. It truly looks amazing.

The Royal Manor Theatre is a quirky venue and well worth a visit.

Plus there’s cake! I’ve just made a lemon drizzle to take in with me tomorrow morning for my first shift as a steward.
