❤️🩹War Memorial Damage Update
Everyone in Crowborough has been saddened by the recent damage to our War Memorial.
We have been actively working to ensure the memorial is permanently repaired as quickly as possible and are pleased to share that we are hopeful that the repairs might be completed just in time for the Remembrance Sunday (8th November) and Armistice Day (11th November) services.
In the meantime, The council is deeply heartened by how Crowborough has come together in response to this incident. Local companies have generously offered their help with the repair, and the amazing local volunteer group, Sewing Crow-Bees & Yarn Bombers have jumped into action! The group is creating a ‘Poppy Veil’ made from hundreds of individual poppies, which will be joined together to create a respectful cascade over the damaged section. In another heart warming gesture, a certified Veteran Friendly home in Crowborough, asked whether the Council would be willing to accept a small donation towards the restoration and repair. The council suggested that they donate directly to the Sewing Crow-Bees & Yarn Bombers instead, which they were delighted to do!
This reaction is just another example of the wonderful community spirit in our Town - thank you Crowborough!
