A few new faces on here so I thought I’d say hello. I started UME in 2021 after a long career in social work with a simple desire to make beautiful jewellery that I liked and hoped others would like too.

What started as sketches and ideas has now grown into something that has exceeded all my expectations. I now have collections of my designs in shops, returning customers who commission meaningful pieces and I get to meet lovely people, hear their stories, and give their sentimental jewellery a new life.

Bringing my ideas, and so many of yours, to life is still the best part of what I do, and I will never take it for granted as it means I can do something I love as a job.

I’ve got some new ideas I want to share in the autumn once I’ve caught up on my current commissions and had a little break away from my bench in August.

It was such a pleasure making this bespoke ring to celebrate a sapphire wedding anniversary. It was lovely working with her husband to bring his ideas to life. The design features an adjustable recycled silver band with three beautiful contrasting sapphire’s.

The commission’s I make are quite often far more than the finished pendant. From speaking to the customers who commission pieces from me I have realised that they are more than a piece Jewellry.

They represent their family history and carry precious
memories of loved ones and stories and I always feel honored to be part of that story.

I was asked to create two matching gold heart pendants for a mother and daughter as a gift for the daughter.

The gold used came from several pieces of jewellery which belonged to the customers Mum, sister and aunt alongside some of their own gold.

Together we were able to create something entirely new whilst preserving the connection to the three significant women in their lives.

The matching hearts carry with them the love and memories of the
family members whose gold now lives on in these pendants.

A beautiful reminder that the people we love never truly leave us.

Are you celebrating Fathers' day with a visit to Anglesey this weekend? It's turning into great weather for a nice walk, followed by a good pub lunch with some local beer - then a spot of shopping.

As like many of the commissions I’m entrusted to do this project carried so much meaning beyond the jewellery itself.

I was asked by to remodel a sentimental signet ring that belonged to her father. Rather than creating one new piece, Fi asked me to transform it into two spinning rings. One as a special 50th birthday gift for her sister, and a matching ring for herself.

These two sisters share a very close bond and are a great source of strength and support for each other. Creating the matching rings felt like the perfect way to honour that connection whilst honouring the man who helped shape them both.

Now, each ring carries a small piece of their dad, keeping him close every day. A reminder of his strength, resilience, and enduring presence in their lives.

It is always a privilege to create jewellery that tells such a deeply personal story.

I was asked to make a ring out of this Saint Christopher travel-safe piece by Georg Jensen, designed in the mid to late 20th century as a travel amulet depicting modern modes of transport such as the car, plane and boat to keep travelers safe whilst on their travels.

It was his great grandmother’s Saint Christopher pendant he no longer wore as a pendant but wanted to have it close to him at all times. It was something his great grandmother wore all the time whilst working on buses.

Im really pleased with how it turned out, despite setting it on the wrong angle first time round!!!

It has so much history and now remodeled for the next generation it can be worn every day and already traveled to Poland.

Being trusted with pieces that carry this much history and meaning is always special, and getting to become a small part of that story honestly means a lot. Thanks for entrusting me with it.
