Recently I was asked to repair a gold ring with huge sentimental value. I tried several times but due to the amount of previous repairs the ring fell apart. I was devastated but although I can repair many things I can’t yet perform miracles so I had a chat with my client about the options. She decided that I should melt down her ring and make a plain gold band with a personal engraving inside. So I did and here’s the before and after pictures. My client is very happy with the result but it just goes to show it’s not always a straight road to success.

Behind the Scenes: A Ring Full of History and Love

Every custom piece of jewellery I make is special, but the wedding ring I created for this couple is unique.

The bride came to me with a vision and a precious heirloom: her late mother’s wedding ring. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she wanted a way to keep her close on her wedding day and every day after.

The bride designed a custom engraving, adding her own unique touch to the piece.

I melted the original ring down and engraved her design onto the ring. The picture doesn’t show the design ( picture to follow) but reflects her passion for nature and reflects the art she creates herself.

This ring is no longer just a piece of jewellery. It is a bridge between the past and the future, carrying her mother’s memory forward into her own marriage. Thank you Michelle for trusting me with such an emotional and sacred project.

This is such an old favourite of mine ❤️

Taking old, much-loved wedding rings – pieces that hold so many stories, memories and meaning – and melting them down to create something entirely new, really special and one-of-a-kind is what I love most about what I do.

There’s something so beautiful about letting the gold (or silver) find its own shape and edges, and sometimes adding gentle texture to the surface… giving the piece a whole new life, while keeping every bit of its original heart.

I was asked to repair this lovely necklace recently. The bail had become so thin through use that it was in danger of breaking. A new handmade bail did the job and should be safe for a long time.
