The thoughts we don’t talk about 😢
It’s easy to talk about business pivots, wardrobe staples, or holiday vlogs. It is much harder to talk about the psychological shifts that happen when your body changes faster than your brain can process.
At 38, navigating my third trimester, I thought I was past my old body image struggles. But pregnancy has a way of digging up the past. Seeing myself on camera lately hasn’t been joyful, it’s been triggering. It has brought back the exact feelings of being the ‘big girl’ who was bullied in school due to my weight.
I know the logical response. ‘Your body is growing a miracle.’ ‘It’s only temporary.’
But logic doesn’t always stop the fear of: What if I never feel like myself again?
I’m sharing this today because I refuse to let this space become another curated, fake space on the internet. If you are pregnant and struggling to love the mirror right now, or if you’re hiding your body because the change feels too loud, I see you.
I don’t have the answers yet. I’m just learning to be kind to the girl I used to be, while trying to welcome the mother I am becoming.
I just wanted to hold space for anyone else who feels the same ☺️
