Stepped away from the bench this week. The sun was out, Blackwaterfoot was ridiculously stunning!
And when you have friends who jump when you mention 'Sea & Sauna', life it good!

Truthfully, I felt really proud sending these three out this week. Nepal, England and Scotland all in there, all travelling off Arran as far as America.

One person has carried Everest in their head for years, or maybe has already made that trek to Base Camp.

One person knows the summit of Helvellyn on a clear day, or standing deep in the clouds.

One person knows the view of Ailsa Craig from the water...from Arran, or from the mainland.

Three places. Three pieces of silver. That's what I do.

Before most people knew she even existed, the Flapper skate was already disappearing.

With up to 2.5 metres wingspan and the largest skate on the planet she is critically endangered across most of her Scottish range.

I'm making her a pendant because sometimes the best way I know to say something matters is to put it in metal. She's not ready yet and got some way to go, but she's coming, and i may need your help deciding how she sits as a piece.

A huge thank you to Lauren
at Shark and Skate Scotland for helping me get her this far.. the features, the details, the things that make her her. If you don't know the work they're doing for Scottish skates and sharks, go find them please. ๐Ÿ’™

The Flapper skate pendant is a new piece joining the Of the Ocean collection by Jess MacDonald Brass, handcrafted jewellery made on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. Inspired by Scottish marine wildlife, this piece celebrates one of the most overlooked and endangered creatures in Scottish waters.

Happy Saturday from Arran! This morning I'm bringing you three bespoke rings from the Odyssey collection. Three very different people, three very different stories.

~ Ocean Caustics was made for an Arran mum, gifted to her daughter. The two of them are the kind of people who stand at the shore and just watch the light move across the water. They couldn't find anything that captured that feeling, so they asked me to make it. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

~ Crystalline is for a person who picks up rocks. Who crouches down and actually looks at what's in their hand. Perfectly imperfect, just like the real thing.

~ River Ring was made for another Arran person who walks the burns and follows the water just to see where it goes.

I have to be honest, I finished this lot and just sat and looked at them for a while. There's something really special about making a piece for someone who genuinely gets it... who carries the same connection to a place or a landscape that inspired it in the first place. That's what I love most about this collection. A little piece of the natural world, held in metal, worn every day.๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’ž

The Odyssey collection isn't only wedding rings. They're markers- a place, a feeling, a time that mattered enough to keep close.

If you've ever thought about having something made that's truly yours, have a look at the website or just drop me a message. I'd love to hear your story. Have a lovely weekend everyone! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Some of us donโ€™t stay on the surface.
Fins go on, breath is steady then you slip under the water.
Sound fades. Movement slows.
Light filters down and suddenly youโ€™re part of another world. (My favourite part)

The Fin Necklace is a solid silver marker for those who feel at home beneath the surface diving, exploring and returning again.

I made this piece during my Dive Master internship, inspired by that weightless feeling you get while underwater.

Touchstones not trends. Jewellery born of Sea and Land.

Thereโ€™s an old Gaelic story of the selkie, a creature who can live as both seal and human, but never quite belongs fully to either world.
Some say her seal skin is taken, leaving her trapped on land while she longs to return to the sea.
Other people tell it differently.
But the pull between land and ocean runs through every version and, i guess is the reason so many of us feel connected to the story.

When you watch seals come and go, above and beneath the surface, itโ€™s easy to see how those stories began.

This reel is a small collection of creatures Iโ€™ve met while diving and snorkelling around Scotlandโ€™s coasts~ jellyfish drifting, pipefish in seaweed, catsharks gliding across the seabed and so much more.
Theres a whole world that alot of people rarely see.

For me, these moment are a reminder that we are only visitors here ~ and that slipping beneath the surface, even for a short while, is something of a privilege. ๐Ÿ’™.

I hope you enjoy!

Some of us find our balance on the water.

Dip. Pull. Glide.
Meditation in motion.

Thereโ€™s a rhythm to paddling that settles the mind.
Breath slowing.
Shoulders dropping. Core braced.
Thoughts stretching out toward the horizon.

And what a horizon Blackwaterfoot has. When youre out for an evening paddle and the sun begins to drop.....words cant describe that feeling. ๐Ÿ˜

Whether itโ€™s a quiet loch, a sheltered bay, or the open sea for you -
thereโ€™s something about standing on water that brings you back to yourself.

The Paddleboard necklace is a solid silver marker for those who feel most at home out there -
paddling, drifting, exploring, and returning again.

If that sounds like you, this one might belong around your neck.๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Iโ€™ve not been near a tropical reef in ages, but itโ€™s those edges - the tidal edges - that get me every time. I like to forget Iโ€™m human for a while, just hovering there, watching the water move and the wildlife getting on with their day. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’™

Iโ€™ve spent so many hours snorkelling and diving along Scottish coasts, noticing kelp lifting with the swell, fish darting between the rocks, shells and anemones tucked into every cranny. A whole wee world doing its thing - like the best small communities do.

That life and movement is what inspired these pieces - Edge of the Reef. Small touchstones shaped by those wild, living margins of the sea.

From Sea to Silver.
Touchstones, not Trends.
