TYLER & TYLER comes from the stable of a British family-controlled Birmingham based manufacturing company that have been making men’s fashion accessories for some of the UK’s leading Fashion
Designers since 1969. The company itself has actually been established for over 100 years. How was TYLER & TYLER born? The collection has been created and designed by the two sons of the family Richard and Jon
athan Tyler. In 2007 many of the Fashion Designers which the company were working with moved their manufacturing to the Far East. In many cases brands would just tell the company their colours for that season leaving the design element completely to them. The brands would simply then just “cherry pick” their favourite designs. Over a relaxing beer one Summer night in Jonathan’s garden, recognising their talent for design, the brothers decided they should set about creating their own collection. The brothers were clear in that they wanted to design a collection that reflected their passion for heritage, British Design and their keen eye to detail. Richard and Jonathan wanted a brand name that would portray the sense of family and as they were going to be the creative force behind the collection they decided to simply use their surname and TYLER & TYLER was born. A year in the making the brothers launched their first collection in the summer of 2008. In essence TYLER & TYLER is a young British brand with Heritage. Having initially just starting out with a range of cufflinks the brand has gone from strength to strength seeing the launch of TYLER & TYLER:
· Collar Stiffeners
· Socks
· Belts
· Ties
· Bow Ties
· Business Card Holders
· Key Rings
· Woven Silk Pocket Squares
· Leather Wallets
· Leather Washbags
· Leather Weekender
· Leather Messenger Bags
Just recently they have launched a collection of Men’s Lapel Pins and Metal/Woven Fabric Men’s Bracelets. Unlike many of their contemporaries TYLER & TYLER are not just simply a brand/design house – they are craftsmen, engineers and manufacturers. The collection is produced using a blend of traditional manufacturing skills and state-of-the-art technology. Some of the manufacturing processes used date back to 13th Century BC. Although they have a team behind them, all of the primary design work is done by Richard and Jonathan. Interestingly neither of them have actually come from traditional design backgrounds. Both achieved BA Hons Degrees in Business Studies at the University of Hertfordshire. Before joining the family business both worked in the Creative Marketing Industry. Jonathan for a private Healthcare company and Richard for Hilton Hotels and Virgin Records Marketing Agencies. As a brand TYLER & TYLER stay true to the motto of their home city of Birmingham’s Coat of Arms “FORWARD” – they never stop moving forward and are constantly working on new designs and product ranges. By working with this ethos the brothers are able to keep the collection fresh and on trend.
