Kris Creatif Crafts Handmade crafts and cakes - My handicrafts are all unique with no two exactly the same.

I work with a combination of materials - good quality wools, cottons and mohairs for the crocheted items, and super soft wool for baby items. My felt creations are stitched with embroidery cottons, and all appendages such as buttons, beads, sequins, poppers, clasps and ribbons are stitched securely. I love being creative and surprising people by gifting them something I’ve made, so I’m always busy making something!

I finally finished it! This was one of the projects you start(early 2024), put down, forget how to do the complicated pattern you learned on a YouTube video so have to rewatch countless times at slow speed, then you make mistakes, spot them 10 rows further on…… the tree rows were particularly long and tedious with needing to do stitch counting at the end of every row (145 if you’re interested,) as just one stitch out would mess up the pattern. I should have known when I read the stitch directory and hardly knew any! 😂. But, I love a challenge - and with video also available, I kept going. So, this is the Coastal Crochet pattern by Eleanor Tulley called Woodland Wonders - I love the fox in the middle square, lying on a bed of leaves - I love the finished result, but won’t be making it again!

This was a fun project I managed to squeeze in earlier this year..…. One of my sons asked if I could crochet some golf club head protectors for himself and a friend. I don’t play golf so had no idea of measurements, but I looked online for similar characters but because the patterns werent quite the image I wanted, I adapted bits from what I could find, and produced these two - the Spanish Torro was experimental but I think he turned out ok! The recipients were very pleased with them, they fitted, and they are used!

After my hexagon failure project I needed something quick, easy and inspiring to get me motivated again, and with Christmas coming up (last year) and lots of lovely stash wool sitting there tempting me, I made some little gifts for friends and a Secret Santa for someone at my Breton ladies craft group….

I don’t usually show unfinished projects that I shall never have the motivation to complete - but this is one of my rare ‘I’m not enjoying this’ pieces! It was meant to be an adult size blanket from a published pattern of my favourite crochet designer - and I’d never made hexagons before….. so I started very enthusiastically… but as I worked and joined them together I didn’t like the way the edges curled up. Joining them up was also a chore - usually I like sewing in ends and joining up. The love wasn’t happening 😩It was time to stop 😬 It’s now destined to be a child’s cuddly or a dolls blanket as I couldn’t unpick it! 🤣

After my dinosaur crochet blanket I wondered how easy it is to design your own, so I found a website that, for a small fee, provides you with tools to design your own. Once the graph you design is completed it automatically gives you a line by line written version as well (if you don’t like graph patterns) so I put it to the test…… comments under photos.

I’ve been very lapse at updating my crafting page…. I’m so busy making stuff that as soon as I finish something I start on something else! So I’m going to randomly go through my photos and show what I’ve been up to more often (as I never sit with idle hands) 🤣
I made this lap blanket for a little lad of 4 as a surprise as I knew he loved dinosaurs and found this pattern online, it’s a c2c design so the back had lots of ends to hide (over 300 with the number of colour changes!) 😬 Stylecraft dk, with a 4.5 hook.

I didn’t know what an Axiloti was until recently - my grandson asked if I could make him one. He’s a keen X-box game player and axilotis are in one of his games; plus he now keeps two in his acquarium. After a bit of research online I found some patterns and had a go…… the round ones are fun ones for his younger sisters.

I've not been able to show my recent makes until now as they were all surprise gifts for family and friends, some for birthdays.

I made two crochet tops for my youngest granddaughters - made up as I went along - guaging their sizes from looking at them in video calls. They both started as small crochet squares, which I then expanded the design around. They loved them!

I then swapped the crochet hook for the sewing machine and used my Mexican themed very colourful Frida Kahlo stash of fabric to make garden bunting and cushions for some birthday people.

We have made some lovely French friends in our new life in Brittany and a special pair of neighbours who live alongside the nearby Brest-Nantes Canal also run a cafe and provide sleeping facilities for passing tourists (Ecluse 150, Crepes & Couette). I couldn't resist surprising them with some colourful cotton bunting for them to hang above their very welcoming outdoor area - and they were clearly delighted as it was immediately strung and blowing in the breeze when we passed an hour later.
