This is how painting over and over a project really looks like: Many hours. Waking up in the middle of the night to paint. Layers of texture.
Loving it… then hating it.
Wondering if it will ever become anything.

This painting started as cloudy skies than turned into a dark flower piece I honestly didn’t like at all. It sat there, heavy and unfinished, while I kept working around it.
Then one day — in the middle of another painting — I fell in love with a vibrant pink colour. Almost by accident, I brought it into this one.

What began as simple lines slowly turned into folklore-inspired vines and flowers.
The darkness softened.
The painting started to breathe.
And something unexpected appeared.

This is the moment I love most — when persistence, frustration, and intuition finally meet… and the painting tells me what it wants to be.
An unexpected picture, born from patience and trust.
Not saying it is finished… it is just waiting happily 🙃
What do you think?

Today feels like a turning point – both outside and on the canvas. 🌬️ The weather turned cold, and so did my painting. I’ve been layering, experimenting, doubting… and finally, after the fifth layer, I think I can say: it’s finished. At least, I’m letting it breathe now.

I wasn’t happy with the color combinations before, but this shift brought a new mood – cooler, calmer, more mysterious. ❄️ Now it’s time to let the painting step into its role, to live in the house and reveal itself to its audience.

I’m curious – how does it make you feel? If you could add or take away one color, what would it be?

From fire to water, from Malta to Spain… 🌊✨
This clay showerhead was made for our outdoor shower—a symbol of change, flow, and transformation. After 15 years in Malta, we’ve embraced a brand new beginning here in Spain. And just like water, life keeps moving, reshaping, flowing.

I’ve fallen in love with soft materials, earthy tones, and natural textures—yet the fire never leaves me. Just as enamel demands the flame, clay too is reborn at 900°C. Every piece is a reminder that endings are also beginnings, and that beauty comes from change.

Here’s to a future as fluid and bright as the Mediterranean sea itself. 💫

✨ From fire to water… ✨

This piece was created especially for our home’s outdoor shower—a showerhead made of clay, hand-shaped, and fired to perfection. 🌊🔥

After years of working with the hard and the heavy, I find myself falling in love with soft materials, earthy tones, and natural forms. And yet… I can’t escape the heat. Just like enamel, clay must also surrender to the fire—transformed at 800–900°C in the kiln into something lasting, something alive.

This piece reflects the colors of the sea and the warmth of this lifestyle—an everyday object turned into art, infused with love and nature’s palette.

Would you add a piece like this to your home? 💙

Every coin has two sides .
Each enamel necklace I create is more than jewelry — it’s a journey. Hours of sketching, shaping, and refining… 10 to 20 hours for each piece, every detail built by hand. Layer upon layer of enamel fused with silver and precious stones, fired in the kiln at 850–870°C until the colors come alive.

This collection was created for the Dubai world expo. Now it’s carefully packed, waiting to be unboxed here in Spain 🇪🇸.

As an artist, I see each necklace as a memory captured in metal and fire — a reflection of passion, patience, and love for timeless beauty.

Virag Andersson Malta based enamlist

I design and create colorful and unique statement jewelry pieces. Every collection tells a story of my life, or describes a dream. My pieces are lacking symmetry, I use playful waves an vivid colors in my items. Dangling beads and vibrant colors are my sort of things. I love experimenting with materials and techniques, my pieces are always unique. For me, creating jewelries means putting an extra color on the palette of Earth.

As a local enamelist i am regularly participating in artisan markets. These markets offer a great opportunity to meet very talented other artists and get inspired by my customers.

Malta based artists are a lovely, friendly crowd, and i am grateful and proud to be part if it. Every market experience gives me a great wave of energy and lovely new ideas. I feel inspired and bubbling with new projects till the next market.
