There is no surprise that AP decided to equip their spearhead model with this complication. The Royal Oak was first introduced with a perpetual calendar under the reference 5554 (later renamed 25554) in 1983 and made available the following year.

The Royal Oak Perpetual calendar has been produced in many different versions, under various references.

The Reference 25636ST is a collector’s dream, The iteration that features the favorite and the most sought-after characteristics. Faithful to the original Jumbo model, it has a 39mm diameter case. It is crafted in today's most desirable case: stainless steel. The perpetual calendar is the most coveted complication for the Royal Oak lineup.

Introduced in 1998, the Patek Philippe reference 5070 marked a pivotal moment for the brand as its first standalone chronograph wristwatch since the 1960s, following the discontinuation of the legendary reference 1463. This bold return to chronograph-only timepieces was distinguished by its substantial 42 mm case and distinctive stepped bezel—an homage to the revered reference 2512, which boasted an impressive 46.2 mm diameter. The 5070 masterfully integrates a variety of design influences, from Art Deco-inspired contours to the bold, aviator-style aesthetics of its dial.

What truly sets the reference 5070 apart is its status as the last Patek Philippe chronograph to feature the esteemed Lemania 2310 workhorse before the brand transitioned to an in-house movement.

Rolex Reference 218206 Day-Date II | A platinum automatic wristwatch with day, date, and bracelet, Circa 2010

Introduced in 2008, the Rolex Day-Date II featured an immediate and major aesthetic change that any collector can easily identify right away—its size. Measuring 41 millimeters in diameter, the automatic cal. 3156 movement, housed in a platinum case, truly embodies the class and beauty of the model line while also embracing the modern trend of increasing wristwatch diameters. Released alongside its 36-millimeter sibling, the Day-Date II offers another option for those who prefer a larger timepiece featuring the same complications.

The model line was released in four metal configurations: yellow, white, and pink gold, as well as platinum, which is seen in the present lot. The Day-Date II was in production for only seven years before being discontinued in 2015 and replaced by the slightly smaller 40 mm Day-Date, which is still available today.
