When I suggested that we should relax the dress code for this year’s Christmas gathering of , I’m not sure this is quite what I had in mind 🎄🦌 (but they did change later).

We all had so much fun, with great food and service, thanks to , and everyone entered into the party spirit, starting off with a hilarious round of Pass the Parcel. Thanks to everyone who attended and made the evening the success it undoubtedly was. Thanks too to for being such a fantastic prize distributor!

It’s worth it ….. to me there’s nothing quite like a real Christmas tree. And the pleasure derived from saying hello again to each and every ‘bauble’ is priceless. From the 40-year old home-made ones from our early pre-marriage days when we couldn’t afford a tree AND decorations, through the boys’ pre-school efforts, to today’s more polished versions, they all tell a story and are reminders of loved and cherished people and places. HAPPY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎄 xx

Christmas Chutney - the perfect activity for a December afternoon! There’s something very therapeutic about all that chopping - and the smell is divine. The hardest thing is having to wait three weeks to enjoy it! Thanks to Delia Smith - I’ve been using her recipe for years and it never disappoints. On to her mincemeat next week ……..

A super evening with friends and Thomas, first to the beauuuutifully decorated for early supper in the Christmas Chalet, then on to for a wonderful concert, featuring the music of Grieg and Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake without the ballet was a first for me, but the music is so special. A perfect evening to put us all in the mood for the festive season. 🎄🎅

‘Visit the City’ with the Master, Helen Field, Day 1 (part 2)

Down to Guildhall Art Gallery for an enlightening tour of the galleries and Roman Amphitheatre with Brendan Barns, the Corporation’s Chair of Culture Committee.

Before that, we had a brief opportunity to meet the Lady Mayor Elect, Dame Susan Langley DBE, who was very pleased with our practical gift from 🇨🇦.

‘Visit the City’ with the Master, Helen Field, Day 1.

To Armoury House at the HAC for a private lunch in the Medal Room. Pageantmaster, and Pikeman, Dominic Reid, gave an enthralling talk about the Lord Mayor’s Show, followed by a visit to the Pikemen & Musketeers’ room, where the Master was prevailed upon to try on armour - not a good look 😂.

To for the City Livery Club’s Installation Dinner to welcome their new President, the marvellous Jane Platt CBE.

As Master of , The Honourable Company of Freemen of the City of London of North America, I am delighted to congratulate Dame Sue Langley DBE on being elected this morning to the role of Lord Mayor - only the third female to hold this office since 1189. Long overdue - and even more reason to celebrate - Dame Sue has chosen to be known as LADY MAYOR. A welcome evolution. Hurrah 🙌🏻!!

I, and 16 Members of our Company, will be able to offer our congratulations in person when we travel to the City of London in November to witness her taking office at the Silent Ceremony, and then watch the spectacle that is the Lord Mayor’s Show.

Discovered a great new Toronto Park today. Biidaasige Park, meaning “sunlight shining toward us” in Anishinaabemowin, is located near Cherry Street on the island of Ookwemin Minising, meaning “place of the black cherry trees”.

It’s not fully completed yet, but already it has something for everyone: massive raccoon and owl play structures; zip wires; sand parks with pumped water so children can build waterfalls and dams; dog parks; waterways for kayaking and paddle boarding; picnic areas with barbecues; walkways through wildflower meadows ……… absolutely breathtaking!

Thanks to .deluca0110 and Bill for introducing us to it.

Well that was a new - and interesting - experience! I think it’s fair to say that as an Englishwoman, I was ever so slightly traumatized by the amount of whooping and hollering that is expected of a television studio audience 🤣🤣🤣.

But kudos to the teams and and Mary Berg herself who was an absolute delight. Very different to our own dear .birtwhistle!

Thanks to for the invitation.

A perfect day yesterday to watch the Oxford/Cambridge cricket match at Upper Canada College. Blue skies, warm weather and great company. And I may be a little biased, but great result too - Cambridge won by ONE nail biting run!
