While I RoostđŚââŹâ¨
Long are the days spent digging for grubs,
As sunbeams drip down, drenching mossy rugs,
The last bead of sweat glimmers & fades into night,
And day cools into the long shadows of twilight,
Turning inward where no one else can see,
I find a place to roost where minds can be free,
Invisibility envelops,
Creativity develops,
The safety to explore within the farthest throes,
While perched atop, on the treeâs highest boughs,
Unbeknownst and undercover,
Unveiling what only the stillest will discover.
While I roost.
-Laine Mariah
I burned âWhile I Roostâ by hand onto 17x12â basswood slab, with watercolour pencil added to achieve the vibrant feel.
This piece was sitting on my desk, almost finished, for close to a year. I hesitated to complete it, letting life get in the way, knowing I needed to make it rich & full of colour, when my pieces are usually kept to sepia tones.
Iâd love it if you have a moment to take a scroll through my feed and let me know what resonates more with you⌠natural wood burned, or the more colourful pieces?
At this time in my life there has been so much change and rebirth, and the colourful hues represent that to me, so I think I may be coming into an era of vibrancy with my art.
âWhile I Roostâ, will be on display with several of my other originals at The Artistâs Lounge Gallery, up at for the Winter. If youâre local to the Okanagan, or traveling here, please go check it out! So many great artists there.
Thanks for having a look, and taking the time to read all of this, if you made it to the endđ
