At long last the mostly complete captains gown. This is still brocade from SARTOR BOHEMIA 🧵 , shoes by NP Historical shoes ( they fit beautifully ) sewing and medieval buttons by me! I have to say I like the embroidered hood worn as a chaperone better than the bicocket hat, especially in that temperature. The gown is lined in a linen and hand finished. Rings by me and belt jewels also by me. This outfit has been many years in the making from concept to ex*****on ( for example, the hood was made in 2018) and I am very proud of the result! The gown is based off of garments shown in the Giron le Cortois manuscript.

Finally kind of finished my medieval silk gown. Silk from shoes from still need to finish the front buttons and I will probably make some small adjustments to the sleeves. But I felt like incredible wearing it and in so glad I did.

My cat will not give me a single moment's peace when I sew at home. The button situation on my medieval silk gown is a big disaster so we'll see how that shakes out. The reenactment starts Thursday so really I have three days 🫠Lots of sewing to do, plus event planning and packing and all that jazz!
