A completely different life for this ruby.

Originally set vertically in a platinum diamond halo, this elongated cushion ruby had been gifted to our client, but the setting no longer felt quite like her.

We designed it into an east-west ring in yellow gold and paired it with trillion diamonds, playing with the contrast between the ruby’s softer curves and vivid colour and the sharper geometry of the side stones.

The change in orientation completely shifted the balance of the ring, cleaner, more unexpected, and with a little edge.

Same beautiful ruby, reimagined.

Carrying her story forward.

I originally designed our clients solitaire engagement ring a number of years ago, a princess-cut diamond held simply by four V-claws.

When she came back to reimagine it, she brought two round diamonds from a pair of earrings she already owned.

Rather than trying to make the different shapes feel alike, we leaned into their contrast, the geometry of the princess cut against the softness of the rounds, finding balance between the three.

The original ring and everything it represents remains at the heart of the piece, simply carried forward in a new form.

Rooted in love, gratitude and grace for all that came before and what’s to come. ✨

Colour, with intention.
Colour is never just about choosing a beautiful stone.
The metal surrounding it can completely change how that colour is perceived.

With these four rings, each stone asked for something different. Alexandrite, sapphire, diamond and zircon, some naturally cooler in tone, others warmer.

In some, the gold was chosen to create harmony. In others, contrast was the more interesting choice, allowing the colour of the stone to become even more pronounced.

The proportions, setting and temperature of the metal all play a part.

Different stones. Different palettes. Different decisions.

But the same pursuit of balance.

All four are currently available at the studio.

Same diamonds. Different era.

A ring gifted by her mother, thoughtfully reimagined for its next chapter.

Using the original diamonds, we created a design that reflects who she is today while preserving the history and sentiment that made it so special.

Sometimes the most meaningful pieces are the ones you already own.

Good design takes time.

From months of sourcing the perfect orange sapphire, to custom cutting it to fit the design brief, to countless sketches, revisions, conversations, and refinements...

The ring evolved slowly.

The proportions.
The transitions.
The balance between strength and refinement.

Every angle, line, and surface was considered until the design felt resolved and delivered the concept.

Not just a beautiful object.

A philosophy, made tangible.

Orange sapphire after being custom cut from and oval to an elongated cushion.

Sunset, inspiration for colour, our client wanted the sapphire to resemble sunrise and sunsets.

Orange sapphire before custom cutting into elongated cushion.

Lots of design iterations

Lots of 3d printed wax models. We were exploring different profiles, shapes, comfort and proportion.

Final wax approval before casting.

The showstopper

Every sapphire in this reel was rejected.

Not because they weren’t beautiful.

Because they weren’t right for the ring behind our last post.

Too pink.
Too dark.
Too elongated.

Beautiful stones.

Just not the one.

A ring about becoming yourself.

We spend our lives refining who we are.

Yet some of our greatest growth comes from learning to honour what was there all along.

A sapphire from her mother’s ring, reimagined for a new chapter.

Worn for years and full of history, the stone was resurfaced to restore its brilliance and bring it back to life.

We redesigned the piece around it, adding new diamonds for a cleaner, more modern balance, something that finally felt like her.

Set in 14k white gold. Designed entirely from scratch.

Past and present, held in perfect balance.

A legacy preserved. A future she can actually live in.
