Ooooooo weeeeeee long week with ! To cap off the week we took a stack of damascus I posted a few days ago, sliced it like a loaf of bread; stuck it in the forge, hammered them out where they grow longer and the pattern distorts as we stretch a 3” long piece of steel out to 21”. THEN the grinding and etching. You can see some of the pattern peeking out in a few pics. It will clean up really nice. I’m naming my pattern after who spent a few hours on the phone with me back in Dec when my highschooler were trying to recreate his Nautilus pattern as our point of departure. Salem suggested we turn the billet sideways and see if we could get tentacles in the pattern. WE DID! So this pattern is named the “Humbolt Red Devil” after the large and extremely aggressive Humbolt Squid. Thanks to Nick and the Wizard of Steel . I cant wait to polish and finish them. Overall blare length on these Tuna Swords are between 16-18”. There will only ever be three of them. 2 will be for sale thru and this summer .ess_kay

This 300lbs ram head on the 1917 Beaudry hammer sure makes easy work of a 10lbs billet of steel🤘 at the helm for the week. This steel is going to be pretty for a small exclusive edition of three Tuna Swords in mosaic Damascus .ess_kay

THIS came out of these this week. A matching pair of integral chefs knives in a pattern I’m calling “Nova Scotia Wolf’s Mane” in honor of my collab with the owner of Lawrence who spent a sunny day with me in rural Nova Scotia at his shop forging our steel and friendship. I needed help to g*t them into knife shape since integral bolsters are a new skill for me. Just the pair from our collab, Only 1 will be for sale at the this August 14-16 in and around Huntsville, Ontario. .ess_kay

I’m on the road for two weeks doing my “learnin’” stuff. My wife sent a pic of one of our dogs last night with whipcream on her nose. Meet shes a costa rican rescue who is daddys little girl. I spoil her, a hienz 457, born in Nosara with so many different backgrounds in her, the DNA kit came back with just “American Villiage Dog”. Shes cute, personable and I miss both my goofballs. .ess_kay
