A huge thanks to everyone who helped make the Kawartha Arts Festival happen this past weekend, and especially to everyone who came out to support the artists and makers. It means a lot to see people choosing handmade, shopping small, and supporting small businesses; we’re so grateful for every purchase, conversation, and kind word.

If you missed me in Fenelon Falls, you can find me near Port Perry this Saturday - I’ll be at Applewood Farm & Winery for their wonderful Fall Market and Mingle. 🍎🍂 It’s going to be a beautiful day filled with live music, the most delicious food & drinks, and an amazing lineup of vendors. Applewood is such a gorgeous venue, so bring your camera for plenty of lovely fall photo opportunities, too.

A little peek into the jewellery studio on this rainy day…

I’ve got some new tools! These are going to let me expand what I can offer, including engraving, but first I need to spend some time getting to know them properly.

The first project was one that would give me big impact with very little pressure: a brass plate for my small assistant’s bedroom door. Next up is one for me… debating between Girl Boss or Boss Babe. 🤔😄 Vote in the comments!

There’s definitely a learning curve to this, but I’m having fun experimenting and practising. I want to be confident with the process before I start offering engraving services, but hopefully that will be coming soon!

These were an early Christmas present from my family. ❤️Because while “buy new tools” isn’t exactly at the top of my budget priorities right now, it’s awfully hard to say no when good used tools happen to drop into your lap. 😉

I can’t show you the jewellery pieces I’ve been working on, so I thought it might be fun to share a few of the other things going on around here instead.

First, a very big thanks again to everyone who voted for me in the Kawartha Lakes Readers’ Choice Awards! I’m pretty thrilled to have won Platinum for Best Jeweller. 🥹💜 My small assistant took a pic of me putting a little thank-you message on my sandwich board for everyone who stops in or passes by the studio, and who helped make it happen.

And speaking of random things happening around the studio… the wildlife pond is coming along nicely! I, along with Michael Morton and our assistant, have been adding rocks, branches and plants as we find them. It’s small but mighty, and we’re now up to seven frogs! 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸 According to our very basic research, they all seem to be female, so I guess it’s a girls-only pool party. Anyone visiting my studio can come say hi to the frogs while they’re here. 😂

Our new water lily was a plant trade with one of my neighbours - thanks Laura! Now we have a beautiful pink flower blooming in the pond. 🌸 I’ve been moving plants around slowly but surely from our other gardens, too.

Between getting dirty with custom projects and the pond, I’ve also been working on some new pieces for my upcoming fall markets. I’ll be sharing all the details soon, but for now, mark your calendars for my September dates:

I always try my best to have a new piece freshly picked from my bench for each market, and Goatchella at Haute Goat Farm is no exception! 🌻

Since this event is sure to put a huge smile on your face, I decided this cheerful, sunny citrine was the perfect vibe. Set atop a cedar band ring and handmade, as always, in solid sterling silver.

Explore the 200-acre farm, grab a seat on the patio, and enjoy the music. From hay wagon rides to goat and pig races, food and artisanal vendors - there’s a whole day of unforgettable experiences waiting for you. You’ll even find dancing dogs, chicken bingo, face painting, and more.

Admission is just $10. A portion of Goatchella proceeds supports the Northumberland Humane Society.
