A nice old Yamaha 34 ii with nickle-silver keywork, fully reconditioned and ready for spring. New pads, freshly hydrated wood body, and refinished and polished bore. This clarinet is gig ready and singing. This beauty has a ton of life left in it. These are my favorite step up clarinets Yamaha produced. Easy to play with a rich and woody tone that makes this a great section player. $800.

Silvertone tenor from thr 60s in original finish for sale. No playing time on it. Those that know these horns, know they are really special. Silvertone was a Sears house brand (there are amps marked silvertone that are coveted by studios, essentially fender Champs but buzzier and grittier). These are really light weight Buescher Aristocrats or commonly known as "Big B". Huge Connlike sound and warmth with an effortless even Buescher scale. Fresh overhaul including a Chem clean and fresh pad set. This thing is gig ready and a ton of fun. Great as a back up horn or something to pick up when you are feeling uninspired on your Selmer or japanese made modern horn. $2000.

Hey guys. Just a quick announcement. Ironwoodwinds will not be taking any new instruments or seeing any customers for the next few weeks. Given the intimacy of my work with your wind instrument and all of the misinformation and unknowns about the COVID19 virus, we do not know yet how to safely protect our customers, our communities and ourselves beyond social isolation at this point. Public health issues should be taken very seriously and doing anything short of this as a tech is irresponsible. Please leave your instruments that need work at home and in the case until this blows over. If you need help cleaning your instrument or performing small repairs i am available during working hours to consult and help you problem solve small issues. Be safe and healthy eveyone!

When it rains it pours, right? On this lovely Canada day this beautiful vintage lady gets to go to her new home after some time here at Ironwood winds spa. This fully original 95### american assembeled Selmer got a much needed soak (clean, scrub, treat laq), spine alignment (body straightening), relaxing gentle massage to remove all stress and muscle kinks (de-dent and destress) and all the other stuff (you know? New pads and corks and key fitting and junk). Just about the nicest vintage sax money can buy now with a meticulous overhaul and set up.

A wise friend of mine once told me about the artists constant struggle to balance between input and output mode. All too often in these wild times we celebrate the output (because we value productivity) and feel shameful about input (because it appears to be unproductive). Today i took a moment to unchain myself from the bench and have an input day. We must take time and remember to feel proud of the input as we continue to produce in order to create rich (or sticky) work. Henry Moore's exhibit always brings a smile to my face.

Who loves these two Getz albums as much as I do? Its like Austin Powers and Lester Young had a very cool musical baby. Stan getz' tone on these two albums is just colour texture and drama. He goes from playing with an incredibly sensitive, subtle and floofy subtone over a quiet ballad to a nasal, skronky upper register over a screaming 60s session orchestra in seconds. Aint nuthin this man can't do except maybe make an unmusical decision.
