I give up!

Instead, I’m giving IN and finally deciding to collaborate with nature.

(A quick carousel TLDR:)

We are pausing production of our non-shimmer paints between June 5 – August 15.

Monsoon humidity changes the way these paints dry and cure, and after years of trying to fight the weather… I’ve accepted that nature usually wins.

So if you’ve had your eyes on our artist-grade handmade watercolors created with honey, traditional methods, and thoughtfully chosen lightfast pigments, NOW is the time to bring them home. ✨

Comment “PIGMENTED” and I’ll send you the link to shop them before the monsoon pause begins.

UNPOPULAR OPINION - I detest exploring color mixes with color wheels and neat little grids. It hurts my ADHD brain.

Something about patiently drawing circles and lines and slowly painting different mixes, neatly sticking inside the edges drives me up the wall.

It goes against the very thing I like about watercolors - SPONTANEITY!!

Instead, I like diving into a blank sheet and mixing colors in organic swatches, and just.. observing what happens. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is how my neurodivergent brain understood warm and cool colors, and their relationship.

Simply playing with messy swatches and noting down what worked and what didn’t taught me more about color mixing than any formal tutorial.

Pictured here are all the color mixes you can get from my Trupti’s Signature palette (set of 24). I hardly painting anything without this staple and it’s 25% OFF till April 24th.

If you want a well-balanced palette with the perfect blend of primaries, neutrals and convenience colors, this is it.

Grab it at the lowest it’ll ever be priced, and paint any landscape, floral or abstract you want with it. 😊 There’s a reason why it’s our bestseller.

There is something sacred about good paper.

The way it receives water.
The way pigment settles into its fibers.
The quiet confidence it gives your hand.

As Blue Pine Arts turns eight, we wanted to celebrate the foundation of every painting, the paper itself.

Till 24th April, our entire paper collection is 25% off.

Our 100% cotton, cold-press sheets.
Our watercolor blocks glued on all four sides so you can paint without tape or distraction.
Our handmade sketchbooks wrapped in beautiful fabrics, created to be your safe space for experiments, studies, and beginnings.

These are the same papers I reach for in my own practice.
The ones we test, tweak, and obsess over.
The ones our community has trusted for years.

We’re also offering free shipping and thoughtful little gifts with your order because anniversaries should feel generous.

If your studio has been asking for an upgrade…
this is your moment.

Color pairing for intuitive landscapes. Save this post if choosing a limited palette feels hard.

I recently taught a class in Sketchbook Revival Challenge where you choose just 2-3 colors and then let water + pigments mingle, and allow a mystical landscape to emerge.

But the biggest thing people struggle with is just choosing the colors themselves. Somehow; narrowing it down to 2-3 choices feels harder than choosing 12.

This happens to me a lot with my ADHD and executive dysfunction.

So I paired some colors that I personally go back to these pairings when I get frozen in analysis paralysis.

Feel free to steal these by saving this post, or make a bunch of your own so that when it’s time to paint, you just choose a theme and run with it.

(If you want 25% off on these handmade paints, just say “THAI” and I’ll send you the shop link.)

But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which colors you choose.

Focus on the VALUES and create a value scale to refer when you’re layering elements in your landscapes.

Because when you get the values right, you’ll automatically create that wonderful atmospheric perspective and your loosey-goosey watercolor meditation starts looking like a beautiful landscape without you working too hard on it. ☺️

I teach you step-by-step how to do that in my Enchanting Watercolor Landscapes mini class bundle. Take 25% off on it till April 24th.

Comment “THAI” and I’ll send you my shop link.

In just 6 classes (each under 45-minutes), you’ll learn exactly how to use values and simple techniques to make magical paintings like Misty Forest, Northern Lights and Lake Reflections.

Trupti

These are Albertan winter skies when the hoar frost has visited us in the night.

Lately life has been feeling particularly peaceful. 🧿

Have you realized how most people almost never identify happy moments as they’re actually happening? We only realize things were ridiculously well AFTER something bad has happened and we look back on our life.

I’ve changed that about myself, and I’ve been aware of happy moments as they’re happening in the present moment.

Yesterday, we threw a winter party for our found family here in Canada. It was warm and merry. :) Having all our loved ones who have made this place feel like HOME.

I wanted to capture this softness I’ve been feeling with paper and pigments.

Today, I spent a few moments painting these skies that have inspired me every winter since I’ve moved here.

And my brain said many times “we don’t have time for this.”

But that voice is a scammer, a liar. We always have time for creativity, for immortalizing indelible moments of life.

I have always loved painting these Meditative Dreamscapes - fantastical places in the dreamworld… calm, still, full of deep peace and the answers you’ve been seeking.

When I was a frazzled perfectionist and choking under the weight of responsibilities on my eldest-daughter shoulders, it’s the meditative aspect of loose Watercolors that finally helped me take a deep breath and let go of control in my life.

I can spend days finding worlds and form and beauty in washes of unpredictable bursts of pigment in water.

That has been my main approach in painting my signature Misty forests… To let the water and pigments do their own magic and then allowing the landscape emerge from the mist.

If you ever experience this, you’ll know it as the deepest form of being present, completely in flow.

I painted a whole bunch of these Meditative Dreamscapes this summer in my Daily Painting Challenge.

I personally adore the warmth of Burnt Orange with the deep, restorative cool blue Phthalo Turquoise from my Trupti’s Signature 24 palette.

The greens are deep and inky, I used Forest Green and Nebula Green.

(All colors from our 101 handmade color from )

Once the forest emerged, I felt compelled to include a doe taking a sip, her silhouette reflected in the calm pool of color. And of course I had to add a bit of shimmer to her with some Acorn Glint metallic paint.

What do you think this artwork should be named?

And what does it make you feel?

If this painting made you pause your scroll and slow down, will you tell me about it? ✨
