Welcome to Earth8bound! Thank you for taking the time to explore my jewelry and read my bio. I was raised in Kimberley and Victoria, BC. From a young age, I had a love of the outdoors and nature. My family loved to go for walks and hikes, bike rides and rollerblading. We spent much of our time working in the garden, shopping in nurseries, and beach combing. I enjoyed arts and crafts, always enroll
ing in any classes I could to feed my creative soul. After moving to Calgary in 1998, I tried a few different jobs from office work to security, but nothing seemed to be the right fit. I started my first landscaping job in 2004. I knew that I had found my true calling and decided to make it my career. Finally, a job that combined something I truly loved and had interest in with the necessity of income. I felt so lucky to be paid to do a job that was so enjoyable and brought out the earth goddess in me! That winter, I enrolled at Olds College to the apprenticeship program for Landscape Gardening. After I received my Red Seal Journeyperson certificate, I furthered my education by getting a Production Horticulture and Arborist diploma, as well as my Certified Horticultural Technician certificate and Licenced Pesticide Applicator certificate. I am currently working on my Masters of Horticulture. In August of 2015, my life changed forever when my beautiful baby boy Cedar was born. During my maternity leave, I pondered what to do when my leave was over. Like many mothers, I did not want to work just to put my son in daycare. So, I searched within myself and thought about what I really love, what I could do from home, and what would be beneficial to make an income while caring for my child. While I was searching, I made a few different nature-themed jewelry pieces for my friends and family. They were all blown away by what I had made. After much encouragement and support, I started creating more and more. People wanted to buy them!! I have been making jewelry now for a year. My creativity keeps leading me to new places and new styles. I see my skills increasing and my pieces reflect the hard work and love I have put into them. Using nature-themed products, many of which I have foraged myself from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. I have created a life and career for myself that feeds my soul with beauty and love. I hope you enjoy my creations. Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook at Earth8bound to see other pieces I have available, and new items I am working on! Tomorrow is a new day! With no mistakes in it yet. Tara Gyurkovits
