Enchant Watches - one off pieces, working on a couple of guilloche dials, barleycorn and sunray pattern, for one off units for a custom order. The guilloche dial is produced on a rose engine, which is a manually operated ornamental lathe, it rocks and oscillates according discs called rosettes. That motion guides the cutting tool whereby the depth is managed by hand, to carve repeating geometric waves into the watch dial's metal surface.
There are only a handful of these rose engines in the world, mainly in the Swiss watchmaking towns, and only a handful of people that know how to operate one.
It takes years to master the guilloche craft, as well as a very steady hand, additionally error rate on these dials is extremely high. Typically these are coated with an enamel or other coating to protect the dials for extreme longevity.
As noted in the Hour Glass article: https://www.thehourglass.com/story/the-art-of-guilloche
"When one thinks of a guilloché dial, an image of a highly ornamental and exclusive artwork immediately comes to mind. Also known as engine-turning, guilloché is an intimate craft of creating fine and exceptionally detailed patterns using anachronistic tools such as the rose engine or the straight-cut machine. Guilloché is a technique that has been employed since way back in the late middle ages, though it was mainly for decorative purposes and applied on softer materials such as wood and ivory. It can even be found from the most minuscule objects of your daily lives such as bank notes to colossal monuments such as the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Greece, serving as a reminder of the great artistic intricacies of the past."
