After a yearlong hiatus, I’m back to designing again. I’ve got a backlog of a few patterns that will be ready to go shortly, but they’re all winter patterns so I’d like to hold off on them for now.
🧤
In the meantime, what would you like to see? What do you like to knit in/for the warmer weather? Let me know, I’d love some ideas!

It’s so it seems right to post the final photos of the Marius Pullover that I finished last week. I’m so very happy with how this turned out, and it was so much fun to knit. I started it on the 2nd or 3rd day of social distancing here in Alberta, and finished it well within a month. The yarn is Drops Karisma, and the pattern is Nr 10 "Marius" herregenser from Sandnes Garn. The pattern is sold through the SDK website, linked from the pattern page in Ravelry, if anyone is interested.

Is it still mitten weather where you are? I think we may finally be coming through the other side of winter here in Alberta, not a moment too soon.
I knit this new sample of the Oslo mittens from Travel Knits for the Family because my husband lost his first pair very shortly after getting them. This time I lined the palms with some suede, which was kinda tricky, but I’m happy I did it. I made the thrummed, fliptop version so they’re warm, but can work with a phone when necessary.
🧤
Did you know that all my patterns and ebooks are still 50% off? Even Travel Knits for the Family, which is normally $19 CAD, is only $9.50 right now. No coupon code necessary.
I am planning on releasing the patterns for Travel Knits as single patterns in time for fall, but in the meantime, why not take advantage of a great deal and get the whole book for less than the price of two patterns regularly?

If you have been following along in my stories lately you’ll know that I’ve started to bake a lot. And I’ve been having fun decorating cookies as . And I couldn’t fight the urge to turn my knitting patterns into cookies. So I did.
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll see the results of that tasty bit of fun. And with it, you’ll find discounts on the featured patterns.
First up - Ribbon W**d and the Fundy Tides Collection. Let me tell you - trying to make cables is much easier with yarn and needles than with royal icing and a piping bag!
The Fundy Tides Collection is on sale for 25% off until Feb 2, while just the Ribbon W**d blanket pattern is on for 30% off until Jan 29th. Link is in my bio!

I’m happy to see equal representation of knitting and baking in my top nine this year. Thank you all for joining me as I experimented with new things this year, let’s see what the next year brings our way.

I’m so pleased to be able to show you the that I just finished! This was a test knit for and I can share it with you now because she released the pattern today. (Click through time Heidi’s profile for the link).
I’ve already worn it both days since I finished it, and don’t see the frequency of wear decreasing much. It’s a beautiful sweater and super comfy.
The pattern was fun and easy to follow so I’d highly recommend it. I used Alpaca Merino Worsted for the main colour, and Drops Nepal for all four contrast colours. It’s super squishy and soft.
Thanks for the fun test Heidi!

I finished my Cat Cocoon this morning! And it’s adorable! (Thanks for suggesting I make something like this for our new kitty!)

The pattern (by and free on .ravelry ) calls for Cascade 220 held double. I happened to have a few skeins of teal leftover from making my Dulse and Sea Oak cushion covers a few years back. I held it double with a giant skein of Cascade Eco in a natural shade that I bought a long long time ago and never used.

After the knitting was done, I threw it in the washing machine on the Speed Wash cycle on hot. It still didn’t have enough structural integrity after the first two cycles, but the third time through did the trick.

So far Tanner has not crawled in, but I’m hoping he’ll eventually find it a cozy place to nap.

I finished my hat (pattern by ) last week and it’s already being put to good use. We were going to wait and put a big faux fur pompom on but winter came in September so 🤷🏻‍♀️

The pattern was really clear and fun to knit. I had only ever knit straight 2-colour brioche before, so it was neat to work the increases and decreases to learn how to make the lines move.

I used this tweed acrylic yarn I bought at Tiger (!) # back when we were living in London. I had no immediate purpose for the yarn, but it was cute and found in an unexpected place so I couldn’t resist it. It turned out to be a really great choice for this pattern and purpose. When she gets it dirty I can throw it in the washer. Note that I said “when” she gets it dirty, not “if.”

I’m not at Knit City with everyone else, but I’ve got a stew in the oven, an Aperol Spritz in my glass, and an old fun project in my hands, and I am more than happy about that. How is your Sunday?

I just finished weaving in the ends on the sweater (pattern by Midori Hirose) sample I was working on. Just in time to give to Jenn so she can wear it this weekend.
• Believe it or not, I completed the whole thing with half (!) a skein of Jenn’s Alice base in the Lady in Red colourway. The yarn is 50/50 blend of baby camel and silk in lace weight. It’s so soft, but strong, and gorgeous.
• The pattern comes with the option to CO a wider or narrower neck. Jenn chose narrower so that it wasn’t too slouchy and hanging off her shoulders. Unfortunately, I had real troubles with the CO. Trying to manoeuvre the provisional CO for the tubular method given, with the very fine yarn, was extremely difficult, and I eventually gave up on it. I used my own provisional CO method, which was easier, but in the end the neckline was too tight to go over an adult sized head. I realized this when I was already well through the lace section, so there was no way I was going back. Instead I reinserted my needle into the line of stitches just below the CO and then cut the yarn and unraveled above it. Then I worked a few more rows of ribbing and finished with Elizabeth Zimmermann’s sewn BO. Problem solved. If I was to do it again, I would probably CO more stitches, or try to find an even stretchier CO method.
• To see this beauty in person, pop by the booth at this weekend in Vancouver. She will have this and many other of her bases, as well as patterns and/or kits for my Lambton Panes Shawl and Capitol Hills Wrap. She also has the last 3 physical copies of Travel Knits for the Family to sell!
• If you’re lucky enough to be going, have a great time at Knit City this weekend! Can’t wait to see everyone’s photos!
