Today a ton of people showed up for the Reimagined group exhibition artist reception gallery in Calgary.

I found this one of most interesting and challenging exhibitions to participate in… I didn’t realize how much experimentation would go into challenging myself with unfamiliar materials. I created two pieces, a necklace and a pair of earrings from the second hand jewellery bits and pieces donated for the exhibition. It was important to me that I created a functional piece of jewellery for the exhibition but it was nice to see that not every artist thought that way. The work was really interesting and varied with lots of sculptural pieces as well.

The exhibition runs May 16-June 22 at the Alberta Craft Council Gallery in Calgary, located in Cspace.

So excited to share this finished bespoke pendant inspired by hollyhocks!

Right from the beginning we connected over gardening and the creative process. I love it when a piece starts with a meaningful idea and I have the honour of bringing it to life at the jewellers bench.

This pendant pushed me creatively, and I am so happy with how it turned out. So grateful for the trust behind custom work, and for the chance to create pieces with stories woven into them. 🌿☀️❤️

I have two pieces of jewellery included in the “Reimagined“ group exhibition at the Alberta Craft Council Gallery in Calgary. It was fun to really think outside the box and get creative with materials I don’t normally use.

The challenge was to go through a pile of preloved, old, worn costume jewellery and come up with something new. I was drawn to two mother of pearl rectangles that had been shoe clips, and based my design around them. I picked up a few single pearl studs, an old floral brooch with missing rhinestones, a glass pearl strand with a broken clasp, and some mismatch clip on earrings.

Keeping with my theme of the garden (which I find a way to incorporate into most of my work!) I called this necklace and earring set “second spring,” playing off the idea of rebirth and second chances.

The show opening artist reception is next weekend May 16th 2pm - 4pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public at the Alberta Craft Calgary Gallery - cSPACE Marda Loop. 1721 - 29 Avenue SW Calgary, Alberta. The exhibition runs May 16th - June 22.

Isn’t turquoise such a pretty colour? I’ve paired it with two leaves from the garden turned into solid sterling silver, to create this pretty one of a kind pendant. 🌱

I love it when a stone already tells a story.

Dendritic agate is a really interesting, beautiful stone, and to me this one looks like a little tree line in the distance. I designed a really simple setting in sterling silver to let the stone be the focus, and it felt a little like I was framing a miniature landscape painting!

These bespoke peridot dragonfly earrings flew off today! 💌

It was fun to do a new take on another pair of whimsical dragonfly earrings with three pretty green peridot gems (which also happens to be one of my favourite gemstones.) I think I’m in love with making earrings that are not symmetrical but still matching!

✨Newly listed ✨(and one of my favourite pieces on my website right now)

One of a kind and handmade from solid sterling silver, this garden-inspired pendant celebrates new life. A little leaf, a dew drop, a tiny flower just bloomed; the small elements found in nature are reminders of fresh starts and new beginnings.

I used multiple metalsmithing techniques and processes in creating this unique pendant: a water-cast cup for the flower, real leaves for the leaf imprints, and fused Argentium for the dew drops and frame. Just as I love to slow down and enjoy the little details found in my backyard garden, I design until everything fits together, taking time to refine each detail until it feels just right.
