I love this time of year.
I love searching for the first flowers.
And it keeps being exciting all summer long because every couple weeks there’s something new. And every year I seem to find a new kind that wasn’t there before.
Last year, a groundhog had a hole in our backyard and one day I went to see if he was still around and all around his hole for about a 8’ radius was a patch of pink and blue forget-me-nots! They weren’t there the year before (at least not that I saw).
Also last year my littlest son found these tiny little clusters of red flowers on the ground. They ended up being my favourite flower to use all year. They came of the trees in little bunches of 3 bouquets. Last year I pressed all the little flowers separately but this year I separated some of the bunches into 3 and pressed the mini bouquets.
And these red trilliums (the burgundy with 3 leafs) are so pretty!!! There’s more than ever around the house this year. I picked 6 of them. I don’t think you’re supposed to pick them but, there was probably 100 of them around one area so I figured it was ok:)
And there’s beavers in the brook at our house:(
Maybe I should pick them off too
Speaking of picked off….. I found a dead turkey too.
I don’t think our cat did that but there’s coyotes around …. Maybe it was them.
I’d never in my life seen a wild turkey or a coyote before moving to our house about 9 years ago.
The turkeys are kinda like a cross between a goose and a pigeon but stragglier than both.
Anyway…. Happy spring:)
EDIT: my daughter read this post and said “you talked about like 9 different things in one post”. lol. I came back to read it to see and she’s right. 😬
