Sorry for the lack of posts in the last couple of weeks. Life getting in the way and daylight saving making me lose track of what day it is!

This very sad looking peridot had some acid etched facets and heavily worn top facets. Lots of cutting of the top facets and then a full re-polishing of both top and pavilion restored it to its best colour and brightness.

Did you know that peridot can be sensitive to acid? The damage of this pavilion probably happened during a resize of the ring as it requires some time in the jeweller’s pickle after soldering. If you have one to do, make sure it doesn’t stay longer than necessary as it can dull all the facets 🥺. It can be fixed without issues but needs to be unset for best result. So… a little caution goes a long way! 💚

Monday Blues time! This week I have a very worn and tired blue zircon coming in for re-polishing.

It is a pretty gem that is not “that” common but has been more popular in recent years. Light blue is always a popular colour in jewellery so it is not a huge surprise to see them around.

After recutting all the worn facets and then polishing them, it is almost as if all the years of wear never happened! If it looks a little fuzzy it’s the typical doubling effect of a zircon. So now you’ll be able to spot them too 😉🩵

Monday Blues time! This week I have a very unusual sapphire slice. It has striking colour zoning but its irregular shape needed a little tidying and a setting edge added to help the jeweller come up with a way to show off this wonder of nature in a jewellery piece.

Personally I cannot wait to see what this very talented jeweller will create with it! What do you think of this all natural stunning slice of sapphire?💙💛💙💛

I started making these "Simplicity" necklaces quite some time ago when I was doing lots of markets. They have been very popular for teacher's presents as well as for birthday presents. I am developing a new upgraded version so if you had your eye on one of them... grab it while you can as I will not be making them again.

This is the large moss agate version with your choice of either a mossy green or silver grey silk cord with a sterling silver clasp.

Ready to post now.

I love playing with beads and pearls, combining them until I get something I like. This is how these cute lantern shape earrings came about. I have several combinations of colours and gems but this black & white fresh water pearls is a popular classic.

One large pearl in between seed fresh water pearls, all natural, on sterling silver wire and hook. Which one will you choose...

This old native cut sapphire was quite worn and damaged from being worn next to another ring which carved out parts of the pavilion. All the damage was removed by recutting the facets before polishing it all again.

Friday Rocks time!

This week I have a cute little emerald sugar loaf cabochon I cut from a faceted emerald to replace a broken one in a ring.

Sugar loaf cabochons are high domed with sharp(ish) edges on the corners as you can see in this emerald.

Do you like this shape? I do like them a lot!!! 💚

In this week's Window I am showcasing this pretty and delicate fluorite necklace. Its simple and understated design brings a little spot of colours to complement your outfit. One of a kind!

I love the pastel / softer colours of the beads and how cute are the little cubes!

The beads are threaded on a sterling silver wire with a little ball I melted at the end to keep the bead in place then bent & looped the end to create the dangling trio. It is secured on a 42cm long sterling silver chain.

Available now. Express post available if required, simply select the option at checkout.

Monday Blues time! I have a stunning pair of sapphires that were an excellent colour match, very close in size but not quite the same shape.

I worked on the girdle (the edge between the top and the pavilion) to round off the corners that were a bit too pointy to get the shape closer to the other one. What do you think? Isn’t that royal blue gorgeous?

Friday Rocks time! This week I have a beautiful bright green and blue opal that came in for repair. It was rather dull and worn so it went through a light recut , sanding before polishing it again. It was set in a ring so I couldn’t get everything out as it would risk marking the setting.

What do you think of this opal? Do you like the bright green? I kinda do! 😅💚
