A huge thank you to everyone who visited The Coal Loader Artisan Market yesterday. I was fortunate to share The Mess Hall with warm and talented artisans, it was a very positive vibe from both artisans and visitors... fabulous! I'm always thrilled when my designs are appreciated. It was particularly encouraging to have a number of my latest designs walk out on the day… scarf cuff, earrings & miniature artworks🙏
If you weren't able to pop in yesterday, I will be at the Kirribilli Art Design & Fashion market next Sunday 14th June (in the Burton St tunnel). Here are a few of my latest works that found new homes - THANK YOU for all your support💚🙏😀💚

It's lovely to see my botanical photography coming to life in floral collages. Photography, collage art and floral arrangement all feed the inspiration for these works🙃
'Ocean Blue' is a small work approx. 13 x 20cm on A4 size mount. A collage of vintage Japanese Shibori textile (thank you Elaine) and personal photographs, embellished with metallic thread & high gloss lacquer details.
This work, along with other new collage art and jewellery pieces will be available at Artisans at the Coal Loader this Sunday 7th June (see previous post for details).

I love designing new pieces for this market. Exquisite materials and beautiful photographic imagery have been the inspiration for my latest creations. When you next visit my display I hope you'll be excited to see these new works!

Over the last few weeks I've enjoyed expanding my Postcards From Japan and Postcards From Nature collage art series. Beautiful Japanese women, architecture, lanterns and the bright lights and signage of Tokyo feature prominently in new works. Birds and botanicals come together in floral displays for my Postcards From Nature series.

New dangle earrings crafted from colourful and earthy textiles, double sided pendant necklaces, miniature wearable art brooch/pendant combos and striking bangles will be on display.

More than 50 artisan stalls will be selling their wonderful creations in the buildings and on the verandahs and surrounds of the historic Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability. I will be either in The Mess Hall where I'm usually located or in The Cottage. I do hope you are able to pop in and say hello!

I've enjoyed revisiting my Postcards from Japan miniature collage series, something I've been planning to do for a very long time... here are a few I've created thus far, focusing on the beautifully dressed women surrounding the religious sites in Kyoto and Tokyo.
Now available on my Etsy Shop https://artoftextile.etsy.com and soon to be uploaded to my Madeit Shop: https://madeit.com.au/collections/art-of-textile
These will also be available to see in the flesh at the upcoming Artisans at The Coal Loader Market in Waverton - Sunday 7th June 9am-3pm, and Kirribilli Art Design & Fashion Market Sunday 14th June 8:30am-3pm

Inspired by a journey through Japan, a country where tradition and spirituality seem to coexist in a contemporary world of bright lights and high tech. When visiting religious sites and historic areas it was exciting to see young women elegantly dressed in kimono and obi with their hair beautifully styled and decorated in flowers, such colour and beauty! Then again, it was also exciting to see the bright lights and signage of Tokyo Shibuya and Shinjuku. The bright lights and buzz were a total contrast to the traditional Japanese culture and aesthetic. It was this juxtaposition that inspired these works.

These small works have been crafted on watercolour paper using personal photographs and textiles, embellished throughout with metallic thread and glass-like lacquer detail.
Image Sizes: 11cm x 18cm
Unframed and mounted on A4 size (21cm x 29.7cm) off white conservation mount board. The art work is first mounted on 0.5cm conservation foam core and then adhered to A4 conservation mount board which creates a lovely floating affect.

I’ve always been an admirer of jewellery and fine detail, from bold costume jewellery to elegant silver and gold pieces. I still admire today the beautifully handcrafted jewellery in my collection, even if I no longer wear it! Some pieces I’ve deconstructed and incorporated into new jewellery designs or art works. Long before I was making jewellery I was creating artworks. I always enjoyed the embellishment phase, especially on my exotic women series - the metallic threads, the hair pieces, the large central pendants and earrings… it’s not surprising that I’ve expanded my art practice to include jewellery!
I adore working with gorgeous textiles and Japanese washi papers, the intricate designs are perfect for jewellery where they can be appreciated for their exquisite beauty. Here are a few pics from my exotic women series and some of my newest pendants. The jewellery will be available at the upcoming Kirribilli Art Design & Fashion market on Sunday 12th April – 8:30am – 3pm. I will be in the Burton St tunnel… fingers crossed it will be a beautiful sunny day! The market can be easily reached by catching a train to Milsons Pt station or a ferry from Circular Quay.

I've had a fabulous few weeks creating jewellery from a new collection of exquisite Japanese washi papers. Here's just a few of the elegant lightweight earrings that will be available at the Kirribilli Markets on Sunday April 12th (I will be in the Burton St tunnel stall A18). Will share more creations prior to the event... hope you can pop in and say hello💜🙏💚
