Polymer Week
The final day, the final masterclass, was a series of new skills for me as we created a hollow pendant.

My poor little brain was exploding with possibilities!
And at this point, I'd had the knowledge of my own years plus the 2 recent sculpting classes, so....🤯🤯🤯🤯

creates such amazingness and I'm keen to finish off my pieces to see the results.

Polymer Week 2024
The sculpting continued!
This time, with Dorothée Vantorre . Her dream creatures - divine!

As with all of the projects, the mini sculptor in me challenged myself to create a - relatively! - tiny version of the project at hand.

They were still waaay bigger than I sculpt usually, but the details were super tiny, so I was very okay to stick to this size.

And this tiny...I was up against the end of day clock!
I videoed the whole process - 42min and 17 seconds. And that was a quick and dirty sculpt. Wee bit intense.

Polymer Week 2024
Movie miniaturist, Caroline McFarlane-Watts from Tall Tales Productions was my first masterclass teacher. A whole glorious day of focusing on sculpting! She led us through creating a charismatic character!
I had to remind myself - "the journey - not the outcome" when my little creature didn't match my vision.
And that journey - amazing! So much learning!

Her creations - the details......I could have stared at them all day long!

Funny story - the day before the class, I met Caroline and when asked what I do, I sheepishly said "I sculpt miniatures too", as one might do in the presence of a miniature expert.
But her next question has led me down a rabbit hole!
She asked, "What scale?".

She taught us 1/12th scale. Where 1 inch represents 12 inches in real life. eg. a 1 inch head is 12 inches in reality.
"Uhhmmm, I don't do scale. They're just tiny."
(I originally sized them for my nieces little lobe)

When I got home, I did some calculations. My mini Santa and Mrs Claus, they're 1/170th scale!
Blew my own mind!

The excitement. The anticipation!
This is the smiling faces of 2 Aussies who travelled a loooong way to attend Polymer Week 2024 that was held mid Oct.

Underneath that smile was a big helping of imposter syndrome - which my money coach/business coach brain thought was hilarious! And I'm so grateful that I could recognise, love it and gently kick it in the butt!

The gentle kicking in the butt was helped in part by a few lovely humans - including this one, Suzie - who have experienced my growth and skills over the 10years I've been working with polymer clay.

What followed was 3.5 days of presentations, creativity, masterclasses, excitement,100 people from around the world (only 5 Aussies), yummy refreshments, amazing teachers, an award(!), superb organisation....overall - an experience I will be repeating!
