We don’t go looking for what’s easy to find. Round, white, “safe” — that’s not what gets us on a plane.

We hunt for the stones with a story: Argyle champagne diamonds with the colour of aged whisky. Australian parti sapphires that shift colour depending on the light. Ceylon spinels in shades you didn’t know existed. Antique cuts with eight decades of history already behind them.

If it’s rare, if it’s unusual, if it makes you stop and ask “wait, what is that?” — that’s the one we’re bringing home.

Every stone in our collection was chosen because it’s different. Not because it’s expected.

This year a group of us are collecting toiletries for the ‘it’s in the bag’ campaign drive that Share the Dignity run each year. The bags will be dropped off in November but the collecting started in January. We are aiming for 200 bags this year. It’s not too late to start collecting today.
