Perth and surrounds……..
Shout out to The Barn at Taylors.
Starting to think of Christmas? All the stocking to be filled and in-laws to get presents for, but who has the money for that????
My tip is, head on up to The Barn, there is something for all ages and the prices are unbelievable (far too cheap if you ask me, which she doesn’t).
Take a trip down memory lane in this wonderful space, full to the brim with things from our childhood, from the early 60’s onwards and my era the 80’s, a memory of standing with my grandmother while she baked, the bits of kitchen equipment and beautiful China, serving dishes and glasses. Things for the kids, oh yes, Thomas the Tank is always in house, and some of the most fantastic games our wonderful Pippa Willemse could find. The wall phones and the rotary phones. The tables and chairs, gardening bits….. you can’t go wrong.
A cheeky sign for the front door or one for the bar. Earrings for that sister in law you have to please (really? Yes really) so while the kids are still at school and you don’t have to “lug them around” head on over to The Barn for a shop, Taylors for a bite to eat, maybe a stop off for a chocolate next door at the chocolate factory (eat it on the way home and no one has to know, throw the wrappers away when you get home and nobody will even know you left the house.) the trip down memory lane will definitely be worth the trip to the valley.
And if you must take the kids cause some of us have those pesky things, you know the ones, the don’t ever speak its name, a J. O. B. Yuck! Then a beautiful drive down the country roads is the trick, first to see a cow with pink spots may choose a chocolate for the trip home. Heeee hee.
