We pay respect to all Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal Elders, both past and present. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.

Gawd blimey, f**k knows how we ended up here. But it’s been a minute so retrospective!

In collaboration with Great Southern Nights we look back on 5 years of Band Night, from its humble origins at the Alley in Leichhardt to conquering the Gladdy and beyond.

In just 48 short months I can confidently say the scene is flourishing beyond the shadow of lockout laws, restrictions, and jacked up prices, so it’s time to celebrate guitar style.

These Halloween shows really mean a lot to me, as although we’ve deviated from its DIY roots, it becomes a rare occasion where I’m forced to stop and look back on the past 3 years, and it’s kinda scary. Doesn’t feel like we did a lot of that.

But alas, Halloween also marks the official beginning of Bennetts and HIJINX. I first got on to them earlier in 2023 when I (seemingly) randomly met Mia at a studio afters.

We got chatting and she asked if my mom’s name is Marie, and I was very taken aback because yes it is how do you know that. She replied because I used to live next to you idiot. I only remembered her as Michael and Sonia’s daughter who I would always hear practicing bass or having the occasional meltdown.

After seeing them play at the PBC I knew we had to work together in perpetuity, and I’m very happy & proud to say I still know and believe that today. Throughout all of spills and thrills they’ve always stuck by me as I have them, and I wouldn’t swap what we have for anything else.
