Once Upon A Fairytale - Vintage Storybook Jewellery Specialising in resin jewellery, beaded necklaces and jewellery making workshops. Passionate about using discarded storybooks and reclaimed beads.

Once Upon A Fairytale is a small studio-based business located in historic Hobart, Tasmania (Australia). I create two distinct ranges of jewellery: resin storybook pieces and reclaimed bead accessories. All storybook pieces are handmade using original page fragments - no scans or printed copies. I love the idea that beautiful images in books enjoyed by children generations ago can have a new life

as a unique piece of jewellery. A time capsule you can wear. My beaded jewellery is made using 100% reclaimed vintage beads. I score garage sales & junk shops to find these treasures and re-imagine a new life for them. Each bead is removed, washed and totally re-designed to form unique, one-off pieces of sustainable jewellery.

Well it's been a long break but Once Upon A Fairytale will be returning! We'll be starting with an online jewellery sale but will also be opening an online shop where you can buy lots of jewellery making supplies and kits. Stay tuned over the coming weeks for more info.

Ladies who attended my resin workshop this past weekend, I will email you all tomorrow with a receipt and the curing status of your jewellery. The cooler weather is causing a bit of a delay with hardening but I'll check all jewellery again tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Fiona 🌿

We used lots of different elements in this class including gold leaf, botanical specimens, fabric, dried flowers, vintage illustrations, photos and charms. Not everyone's jewellery is shown here - not because it's not awesome (it is!!) - but my phone died!! Will capture more photos tomorrow in some natural light. Hope you're chuffed with yourselves people - 4 hours learning and you're all jewellery designers/makers!!😊

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and holiday break with your loved ones. I have been away a lot, enjoying some beautiful parts of our state.

Back home again for a spell and thought I'd share with you some exciting projects I'm working on. The first of these is some fossicking I did in a privately owned patch of rainforest. I will be drying these botanical specimens and then embedding them in resin molds to see what kind of effects I can achieve. All going well, I'll be adding a botanical class to my resin workshop calendar this year.
