At Stone River Gems, every gemstone tells a story. Originally sourced by Khan at the markets of Papeete during his years working as a yacht chef, these Black Tahitian pearls carry a story shaped by travel, time, and place.

Set in solid 14ct gold, each naturally iridescent pearl reveals deep green, violet, and silver undertones, no two ever the same.

Handcrafted from our signature alloy, a bespoke blend of upcycled yellow and rose gold, this design carries a softened, vintage character. At its centre sits an ethically sourced 1.5ct colour-changing champagne Zircon from the Harts Range in the Northern Territory. A stone of transformation and endurance. Flanking it, deep red Garnets (.63cts), hand-fossicked by Stone River Gems in the Northern Tablelands of NSW, symbols of love and stability.

A ring with a passport, born of earth and ocean.

The opal in this piece began in the red earth of Lightning Ridge, hand-mined and cut by my late father. Its counterpart is a Tahitian South Sea Pearl collected during my years working aboard yachts in French Polynesia.
Two worlds, one ring.

Handcrafted in 14ct gold, grain-set with Australian sapphires, and finished using the traditional carved-wax method, it moves effortlessly from the wilds to the red carpet.

The story of this collection begins decades ago in the red earth of Lightning Ridge. I was just a boy then — wandering the fields after the rains, scouring through the opal waste fields in search of flecks of colour. A real-life treasure hunt.

Years later, I acquired a rare collection of opals from my father — stones that had taken decades to unearth and shape. By then, I was travelling the globe as a yacht chef, chasing adventure. One afternoon, at an art show on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, fate intervened. Katrina (then my girlfriend, now wife) and I crossed paths with an extraordinary craftsman, and a remarkable collaboration was born.

Together we created a series of bold, one-of-a-kind statement rings and pendants. Each opal cut by hand. Each wax form carved for one stone alone. No duplicates. No second editions. Every piece is entirely its own — a one-of-a-kind work of art.

And now, for the very first time, this limited release is leaving the studio to become part of someone else’s story.
