Simon Bovay wins the Finn Grand Slam Silvaplana

Simon Bovay dominated the fourth and final day of the Finn Grand Slam Silvaplana – the 2026 Swiss Finn Championship. He took the title from Peter Theurer and Christoph Burger after three more races were sailed in 10-15 knots.

For the second time this week the wind engine at Silvaplana failed to start up at the Finn Grand Slam Silvaplana – the 2026 Swiss Finn Championship. A three-hour postponement in the hope things might change led to nothing with an abandonment following soon after.

While waiting around on Saturday, the fleet were treated to an impromptu live concert performance by some Swiss sailors, free 'after race' beers as well as drug testing by the Swiss OC, not necessarily in that order. The weather is also, apparently unusually warm for this time of year, with tales of snow at this time from those who remember.

While the championship is secure with four races sailed, one more is needed for a discard, with three races scheduled for Sunday, and a much better weather forecast.

Simon Bovay leads Finn Grand Slam Silvaplana as racing finally gets underway

Simon Bovay took three wins from four races on the second day of the 2026 Finn Grand Slam Silvaplana, the 2026 Swiss Championship. Peter Theurer is in second with Christoph Burger in third. 54 Finn sailors from eight nations are taking part.

Grand Slam Silvaplana suffers wind failure on opening day

Undoubtedly the most beautiful destination on the 2026 World Tour for Finns Grand Slam, Leg 6: Grand Slam Silvaplana opened on Thursday with no races possible due to the famous thermal wind not developing. Around 55 sailors from 9 countries are taking part in the 2026 Swiss Championship.
